Entrevista a Hironari Kubota: "A Conversation in two voices"

Com o motivo da visita a Portugal do artista japonês Hironari Kubota para apresentar a sua performance "The spinning idol" (comentada num post anterior deste blog), o IRMANARTE decidiu fazer-lhe uma breve entrevista por mail, à qual o artista respondeu rápida e amavelmente. No entanto, como refere Kubota na sua resposta ao mail de entrevista, as respostas às nossas perguntas prefere escrevê-las no seu próprio idioma (japonês) porque em inglês, diz, "é mais difícil de explicar". Posto isto, para não alterar o sentido das frases com uma tradução não oficial da nossa parte, preferimos deixar a entrevista tal qual foi recebida e incluir um tradutor automático ao final deste post para os nossos leitores. Ao mesmo tempo, aproveitamos para abrir um debate através da plataforma de comentários, onde podem aportar opiniões relativas à entrevista ou inclusive uma possível tradução do hiragana das respostas do senhor Hironari.

-IRMANARTE: Yesterday afternoon, you have presented at the CCB / Berardo Museum in Lisbon the performance-sculpture "The spinning idol." We imagine that any performance requires a lot of concentration and sometimes causes tension and nervousness. How do you rate the results of that show? Jokingly: You have needed to say a Hotoke-sama? :) - HIRONARI: 私ももちろん仏様と言いますし、私の家族も仏様を信仰しています。 今回のショーはカトリックの国で仏様を回すという、少し複雑な要素を含んだ作品になったため、見ている人にとっては 意味がわかりずらかったり、謎めいたイメージを持たれたかもしれません。 カトリックの偶像を用いて作品を作るべきだったか、とも考えています。そうしたらより緊張感が得られたかもしれません。

- IRMANARTE: Based on its experience at the CCB, how would you rate the Portuguese public? Has assistance behaviors, assimilation and critique themselves?…Or the way to appreciate contemporary art is something universal? - HIRONARI: CCBというポルトガルの中でも有名な美術館で展示を出来た事は、私にとって大変嬉しいことです。自分の作品や今までの活動がポルトガルの方々に理解していただけた結果だと思います。 多くのポルトガル人に手助けをしていただき、作品を完成させる事ができました。 中世に日本とポルトガルが盛んに交易していた事を示す要素を、現代においても沢山見つけられる事が大きな驚きでした。

- IRMANARTE: One of the aspects that most characterizes you as an artist is the fact you spend a large number of hours to carry out the works, compared with the short time you devote to submit them. It can be said that "The spinnig Idol" follows the same line? - HIRONARI: はい、同じようなコンセプトで制作しました。

- IRMANARTE: How do you see the future of performance art as a discipline? - HIRONARI: パフォーマンスアート全体については考えた事がありません。自分の作品に関しては、立体作品の制作の延長上にパフォーマンスの要素を取り入れて行きます。

- IRMANARTE: As we read in your diary-blog, your stay in Portugal was marked by at least exotic dining experiences, good Alentejo wine, beautiful scenery and some transport complications to the mix. What things have impacted you most during your stay in Portugal? We are a very exotic country for you? - HIRONARI: 私の国の中世の歴史の中で、ポルトガル人が鉄砲やキリスト教を伝えた事はとても大きな出来事で、日本人がポルトガルに持っているイメージは 残念ですが現代のものより過去のイメージの方がインパクトを残しています。ですから、今回ポルトガルを訪れそのイメージを自分の中で繋げてみたいと思いました。 城塞に登りそこから想像した中世のイメージは壮大なものでした。私は日本の戦国時代のマニアでもあるので、鉄砲を伝えた国であるポルトガルの景色は何とも言えない興奮を起こさせます。 他には、料理やワインがとても美味しいので、食事が楽しみの一つでした。昼間からワインを飲めるのは、私にとって最高の喜びです。 アトリエを使わせてもらったJoseさんがクジードという肉料理の盛り合わせを御馳走してくれましたが、忘れられない味です。

- IRMANARTE: We would like to see you again in Portugal. Is that feasible? - HIRONARI: 私は明日日本に帰ります。次にポルトガルに来る予定はまだありませんが、是非また訪れたいと思います。
